Noise Map of Galápagos: Science to Protect Biodiversity
We monitor environmental noise and educate the community to reduce anthropic impact on Galápagos biodiversity
OUR PILLARS
OAG: GALAPAGOS ACOUSTIC OFFICE
Acoustic monitoring
We install terrestrial and marine stations to measure environmental noise levels in real-time across the Galapagos Islands.
Environmental education
We promote talks, training sessions, and educational campaigns to help the community understand the impact of noise and encourage responsible tourism.
Marine conservation
We develop acoustic research projects with specialized monitoring systems, supporting the preservation of marine species and sensitive ecosystems.
REAL-TIME NOISE MAP
First Traffic Noise Map in Galápagos: Science, Law, and Education to Protect the Environment.
The Galápagos Islands are taking a historic step toward environmental protection with the development of their first official Traffic Noise Map. This pioneering project combines world-class science, strict legal frameworks, and a strong educational commitment to measure and regulate the impact of road traffic on both nature and communities.
MONITORING STATIONS
Real-Time Noise Monitoring Stations in Galapagos: Technology and Education for Environmental Protection.
Our program is currently installing continuous noise monitoring stations in Baltra, Puerto Ayora, Charles Darwin Avenue, and Tortuga Bay to monitor noise levels in real-time.
These stations send automatic alerts when noise exceeds appropriate limits, providing accurate data. This initiative strengthens environmental management and helps raise awareness about the impact of human activities on the islands’ ecosystems.

Causes You Can Support
Noise Map Campaign
Fund for Marine Monitoring Stations
Support the creation of the first Noise Map of Galápagos, a legal and scientific tool that will help control noise pollution in Santa Cruz and Baltra.
Environmental Education Program
Your support makes it possible for more
schools and communities in Galápagos to receive talks, training sessions, and awareness

Proyect
GALAPAGOS ACOUSTIC OFFICE
With the support of the Galapagos Life Fund (GLF), we began developing the first Noise Map of Puerto Ayora and Baltra, using the CadnaA acoustic prediction software and ISO 17025 certified measurements. This project sets a historic precedent in the islands: a scientific and legal tool that will allow the authorities to regulate noise pollution and protect biodiversity in urban and coastal areas
